Gulkand is a recipe made using roses. There are many gulkand benefits such as it reduces acidity problem and stomach burning sensations. It is an excellent blood purifier and removes toxins from the body. It is a home remedy for body heat problems like mouth ulcers, heat rashes, itchiness, and pain. It also improves digestion and solves stomach disorders. Gulkand also effectively prevents heat strokes. Hence, before going out into the sun, take 2 spoons of gulkand. It is efficient in maintaining the health of uterus. Also, it relieves menstrual pain. Gulkand benefits in pyrosis, combustion, burning sensation in hands, legs and while urinating, excess sweating, constipation, and other diseases.

Preparation of Gulkand or Gulkand Recipe

Traditionally, this sweet is prepared using Damascus roses, but bhagyalakshmi brand is prepared using “panneer roses”. Gulkand recipe is prepared with other common types of roses such as China rose, French rose, and Cabbage rose. It is prepared using special pink rose petals and is mixed with sugar.

Steps in preparation

1. The flowers of Rosa × Damascena, commonly known as the Damascus rose, are used for making Gulkand.
2. Collect the fresh petals of a rose
3. Weigh the Rose petals and weigh an equal amount of sugar
4. Wash the rose petals in clean water
5. Take a clean dry glass bottle with a lid.
6. Add the Rose petals and sugar in layers in the bottle
7. Close the bottle with the lid and keep it in sunlight. You can add more layers of Rose petals and sugar-based on bottle capacity.
8. Rose Gulkand recipe is ready in about ten days and can be stored in the fridge for about six months.
